i think he was the captain before the fourth test captain of India.. am i right?

The third test captain of India was Nawab of Pataudi senior (Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi) in the year 1946 against the England. The location of this match was also England. He palyed 3 test matches and he got 0 victory, and 1 lost and 2 drawn.
