There is a 1cm circle of the usual purple bruise, but around that is bright yellow and faded dark green. I have never had this before, should i be concerned?

this is normal. it is from the breakdown of the blood under the skin-part of the healing process.

I have had the same kind of bruise before. It was because the impact was very bad. i fell from a 50 step stairs and i was bounced on the wall. It just healed after alternating cold and warm compresses. If the impact that caused your bruise wasn't strong enough to cause such a serious bruise, then you may need to see a doctor. But if the impact that caused it may well justify the seriousness of the bruise, then you can try alternating cold and warm compresses.

Note: If there wasn't a trauma or impact that caused the bruise then see your doc.

No, this is just the normal healing process of a bruise. It will fade to brown before it goes away completely.

Nah, you just conked yourself a good one. :) I've had many MANY yellow/green bruises and I'm still alive and healthy.

Although, if the bruise just randomly appeared and was not caused by a trauma, then I'd keep an eye on it. If more bruises just keep popping up out of nowhere, talk to your doc.

Not that I know of. Every bruise I've ever had has changed colors like that before it went away.It sounds like it was a small but deep bruise. On the other hand it could be the "bulls eye" symptom from that deer tick disease.

It isn't dangerous. This takes place when the bruise begins to fade.

That is normal. Though it is dangerous to ask on a board like this about a health problem you are worried about. Especially when we can't actualy see it, or even know how it happend. If you are ever in doubt about your health, go see a dr.

no-- the harder the hit , the more colorful the bruise. Also depends on the location of the bruise.
