Without infrastructure, we can never sustain our economic progress. I think it comes more within the jurisdiction of state and local govenment. The issue is to identify who are responsible for it, what their goals are and how are they doing it- this can only be done if there is a website of each local unit where they continously state what they are doing. Even in the pullitzer prize winning book "The world is flat", the author says repeatedly that India needs to pull up its socks badly where infrastructure is concerned.

When there were floods in Bombay last year, the whole city was up in arms about how and what it contributed in terms of taxes and got peanuts in terms of good governance/ infrastructure. After that, everybody goes off to sleep. Unless continous and consistent monitoring mechanism is there, discussions like these are just verbal gymnastics.

No the Indian government is not taking care of our infrastructure, the infrastructure of our country is taken care when the elections are near. The roads constructed during or before the elections are in a bad condition after the rainy season.
So i would like to say that the private companies take care of our infrastructure properly.

There is a great need to construct fly-overs and sub-ways to reduce the bottlenecks at signal&crossroads .The most important thing is all encroachment should be mercilessly removed. Look at developing Hyderabad ,Thanks to commissioner JAJU for his bold move to widen roads and break illegal stuctures. The whole country needs to concentrate on this without fail.
