The first one is not clear; what is sinx 1 + cosx supposed to be?

For the second, cancel the cosx terms to get (sin^2x - 1)/cotx;

sin^2x - 1 = 1 - cos^2x - 1 = -cos^2x, so you get

-cos^2x / cotx Then use cotx = cosx/sinx to get

-cosx * sinx. Since sin2x = 2sinxcosx, sinxcosx = (sin2x)/2 so the result is

-(sin2x)/2
