I cannot see it being too pleasant....
They had two methods of devouring children (which were the primary prey for the ancient Lamia of Greece anyway);
1- Devouring vicitims whole like the snakes they resembled
2- Drinking their blood almost like a Vampire
Either way the death is quick and only the Lamia seem to enjoy it at all so I'm guessing it would painful but mercifully fast.
