Many drug dealers look like professional people, the average worker, or a family person. Even if some look as though they could be up to no good, that doesn't mean they are a drug dealer.
It is easier to tell if there is a drug dealer in your immediate neighborhood. Usually there would be an unusually large volume of traffic going into and out of their houses--nearly every day or night.
Sometimes you can see a drug deal if you are out driving around at night--if a few cars have stopped in a vacant place together. But you still can't be sure.
The street, train or bus would be the most difficult places to recognize a drug dealer. All kinds of people walk and use public transportation--doesn't mean they're dealing drugs.
I saw a drug deal go down in a very small town, which was the safest place I have ever been. It was in front of a laundramat. People went into the convenience store (connected to the laundramat), and one man (dressed in a conservative suit) entered their cars--you could see him take something, and leave something in each car. The people who went into the store came out usually with only one item (1 soda, 1 pack of cigarettes, 1 candy bar, etc). They all looked like they were on their way home from work (blue collar and white collar). I was glad to see, at least, that they were all adults--this dealer was not selling to kids.

You can't tell a drug dealer from the rest of the population anymore than you could tell if someone has served time in prison.
I have talked to men that are currently incarcerated and sometimes are shocked to find out their crime. Did Ted Bundy look like the serial killer he was??? no
My mom used to tell me that the scariest monsters are real......

You can't. If you could, so could police. And if drug-dealers were so easy to catch, there would be very few drug dealers out of prisons.
