There was a story in the news recently about a girl, known only as Ashley, who is severely disabled. Her parents had doctors do surgery on her to keep her from going through puberty so she would be small enough to care for easier. That's pretty controversial, I think.

The medical value of circumcision. Some have recently reported that the practice may slow the spread of AIDS in Africa. Others claim the practice is not medically advisable.

Remember the woman that had her whole face replaced? a younger woman had died and this older woman received it as a transplant?
I personally think this is a fascinating break through! What's next?
I wonder what it would feel like to be ugly and receive a new face and then be attractive! Or for a burn victim, a whole body 'skin suit'! That's cutting edge!

Viagra
Compare perceptions of the ethics of viagra vs the ethics of birth control.
Or look into the controversy over health insurance covering viagra but not covering birth control.

Euthanisia or mercy killing. This is like abortion except you kill really old people in pain rather than fetuses. For some info on euthanisia go to these links:
http://www.euthanasia.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euthanasia
http://www.religioustolerance.org/euthanas.htm
They all present some perspectives from both sides that you can use in your report. Good luck!

Maybe you can tackle something about the necessity of surgical enhancements (i.e. tummy tuck, liposuction, face lift, etc.). Think Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Michael Jackson, etc.

cures for cancer, cp, new birth control and its effects, herbs vs. meds..... almost all medical reports have there controversies... we are just taught that we should listen to doctors and pharmacists, ( DOCTORS GETTING KICK BACKS FROM DRUG COMPANIES TO PRESCRIBE PILLS) you could pick almost anything and make an arguement...
