Depends if your American walk into work one day with your trusty .44 the you can buy over the counter and say" YO MutherUcker you got a problem here's your problem meet .44 b*tch on heat" them pull the trigger...
If your British walk up to him in work chat about the weather mention Cricket How your Father was a famous player then produce a worn used Cricket bat from your bag when he looks interested grab the handle swing back and forward right in the napper...Same effect as above....
But yes there is a good chance you'll go down for both Best ask hi you seen to have a problem with me is it something I've done I need to know because I don't have a problem with you maybe we can sort it out.....

For your own peace of mind, don't retaliate or ignore. Smile when you see them. If you make enemies, it is not good for your peace of mind, and your work will be affected. Not only that, when you go back home, you won't feel good about yourself, and you will find yourself being worried about it all the time. So, smile, be casual, professional, and cool, and just continue on with your work. If the person is in need, always offer to help. Our primary purpose of being at work is to do the work we are hired to do. And for us to do our work well, we need to learn to get along with all kinds of people. Those who are meant to be good friends, will be your friends, and will love you the way you are.

You are there to work and get whatever job you were hired to do done. Work is not always a place to make best friends. In fact, you will be disappointed if you find your only friends are those from work. Do your job, watch your back to be on the lookout that this person does not make problems for you mind your own business. Let your presence in the workplace be the other person's problem....not yours. Carry on as if he/she is not there. Success on your part is the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have the same experience with my classmate.
What i did was to approach her best friend(who is also annoyed by my presence) to ask what's wrong. Well what happened was when i asked her she ignored me and made me mad. Well what you should do is try to know first what he/she doesn't like about you and try to tell her that it is you and accept you as you are.

Give the person a lot of space. Smile when they look at you. Answer questions, politely. Otherwise, don't initiate contact if you don't need to for work.
