Assuming the renter is of legal age, can a landlord legally stipulate within the lease that alcohol may not be possessed or consumed in or on the rented property? If so, can you give me the reference?

It would probably depend on state laws...there is a lot of control they have as long as it's stipulated in the lease, though.

I have seen this a few times. Some schools stipulate no alcohol in dorms and such. Check some housing rules at some colleges.

I can see how it could be legal for the landlord to stipulate that. It is after all HIS property.

Yes,he does own the place an it is in the lease which it states no alcohol an that is that

What jurisidiction. If it is a home, where you rent rooms and there are other tenenants,definately. landlord tenant acts do not apply to roomers.

the landlord owns the property...they can write whatever they want in the contract...before you sign it......not after

if it is student residences yes. outside of the student residence the answer is no.
