I think it does. All those rappers rap about is sex, money, girls, sex, bling, sex, gangs, violence, hate, arrogance, and...sex??? They make it sound as if those are the only important things in the African American community. Also, there was this thing on the internet, and it said that the only way to get out of the ghetto was to be a bball player or a rapper. It makes me SICK.

Hip Hop is not necessarily bad,(why do we put labels on art?) look at movies for example just because there's violence in some movies don't mean there's not gonna be non violence in other movies. Its all about enjoying ur cup of tea,, for those out there looking for something besides "bling bling" hip hop I suggest u listen to Immortal Technique, Canibus Truth505 or Chino XL .. Hip Hop at its core is poetry/art/life,, music from the streets, can the streets be Crazy?(why the minorities/streets segregated anyways?) I guess hip hop is like a tool you can use it to build or destroy,it ain't going no where and it fun to listen to beats...

I think it harms them, if they listen to the lyrics. Because it actually glamorizes being a whore and being a pimp. It also shows they have no respect for black women or any women for that matter. Not all hip hop is bad just most of it is nowadays. back in the day they didn't rap like they do now. Sometimes I'm embarrassed and outraged at what they say.

It harms the students that don't know how to separate reality from fiction. If a person isn't strong enough to make their own path and follows the Rapper's one well there will be a problem. People need to understand that what they sign about isn't in fact what should be done with you life. Those that it will harm are the weak ones that don't understand a signer/songwriters opinion.

it only harms the ignorant... if people realize the music is just entertainment and don't base their life on getting "b itches and cars" it won't have a negative affect on African-Americans. But if ignorant people keep having the wrong priorities in their life then yes its harmful, but I in no way blame that on the artist who make the songs.

No, it truly is only yet an extra reason that Black human beings use even as they fail in existence. human beings favor to have the instantly ahead experience to seperate delusion from fact. so some distance as Hip Hop and they are lyrics, those rap artist isnt holding some thing new to society that we do not already understand and our youthful babies do not already understand. yet through very incontrovertible reality that they are in the limelight and anybody hears them say the flaws, that we likely say wide-spread in our houses, we nonetheless aspect the finger at them because we are hyprocrites. And to whoever, says sure to this question, favor to take there own existence into their own hands. because i do not see how track can take over a persons' existence. yet another ingredient anybody fail to understand, you could blame hip hop all you opt for, yet those rappers are the millionaires because we made them millionaires, even as rappers talk about their autos and houses and rims, they are talking about THEIR existence, so how will you blame hip hop even as your the dumb A$$, who tried to bypass out your thanks to purchase rims, autos, clothing, houses, earrings and attempt to stay the existence type of a celebrity once you could slightly pay your employ.

Yes. It glorifies everything that's wrong with modern Black America. Rap isn't black pride but black shame. They've brainwashed impressionable black children into thinking that hip-hop is actually synonymous with black culture and that anything other than hip-hop is "white". Whatever.
