I work for an elementary school as after school staff. It is part of federal work study. I was wondering if it was legal that the agency that runs the school has decided to pay the student workers only once a month? Does the U.S. or Illinois in particular have rules against a once a month pay period? Thank you in advance

Absolutely, as long as it is part of your contract. My wife did her residency at a hospital in Colorado where she was acually paid by the state. Once a month....... get use to it.

I'm not sure if Illinois has any special laws, but most students doing Federal Work Study that I have known including myself were only paid once a month.

Im not sure but I think it depends if you get paid a salary or hourly. I suggest looking at the Federal Labor Standard Act or ask someone who knows this act.

I was a work-study student. It was standard for the University that I was attending to pay all employees monthly. It is acceptable to do this.

I work for my school and get paid once a month too. It doesn't matter, you get the same amount of money no matter what your pay period is.
