Fruit Basket - sitting in a circle pick {three} (depending on the #) fruits and assign the participants one; then one gets to stand and try to sit down by calling one of the fruits. Then the participant whose fruit has been called has to move at least two chairs down, quickly before the person standing gets there. If attained in several tries the person can call "Fruit Basket" then everybody has to change sits (at least two chairs down). - Many thanks to "Chipoco" for submitting this game!

Scavenger Hunt.
Divide them into teams.. (I assume they have transportation) have them go around town and find various items. You can either have then bring back the item or send them out with disposable cameras to take pictures. Have them look for things like a movie ticket stub, a grocery store receipt. Tell them take a picture with a person wearing a certain type of clothing (for instance a green tie, red shoes),or take picture in front of of a certain landmark in your town. Since there are some many people involved make sure you have a lot items to look for...make them pretty specific or difficult and give them a time limit. Let them know how much each task or item is worth. When they get back..send someone out to a one hour photo to get the pictures developed. While they are waiting serve snacks and drinks....Tally the scores and share the photos. Or if you have the resourses use digital cameras and show slides shows. It will save you time, but could be expensive. Good luck!

I'm currently in a similar position. I'm a student 10 years old and I'm organizing a bazaar for my school for the first time. My teacher asked me to hold games during the bazaar and because this is my first time, my brain is fresh with ideas.
if threes a zoo, a park or some place like the places i listed, you could do something like "The Amazing Race" around that place. and and you could form teams of ten.
My school, Singapore PSB School, was holding an outing to a nearby nature preserve. when i asked my teacher what we were going to do there, she said: "were going to pick up rotten leaves." so i suggested this race and they asked me to organize it. in the end it worked perfectly! I've got plenty of other ideas and if you want some more you can e-mail me at yudhibun@yahoo.com.
also please tell me if you used my idea and for more details e-mail me. This is the best question I've seen.

Have people bring in Tv's do some video game parties on some popular consoles such as x-box. You could also persue the board game route, everybody loves a good board game. There is also paintball. I have seen churches do paintball for their youth groups.
