I agree with it. It is easy to speak about nothing all the time, and it does take a long time to learn when you are to be quiet.

Knowing when to talk taking a lifetime to learn, means developing your sensitivity and understanding of others, so that you say the right thing at the right time and to the right person. That takes time and skill in learning how to read the character of other people and what may or may not offend them. We often complain of being misunderstood by others, so the solution to that dilemma would be, to be sure we are effectively stating whatever it is we are trying to say in the first place. The young often blurt out their comments without thinking. Eventually, the majority of us learn how to converse with others from our rational mind rather than impulsive immaturity and/or lack of experience. The saying, "Talk is cheap" comes to mind, as merely speaking is not the point, it is how something is said and when and where, and to whom, that makes all the difference.

"Learning how to talk is easy. knowing when to talk takes a life time to learn."

It makes perfect sence to those who haven't wasted their minds away to the point where they stop seacrching for asnwers beyond what whe words say and not what they mean.

Everyone, basicaly, can learn to speak (use words), but peeople need to learn when it is best for them to say nothing like when speaking will hurt someone's feelings, make situations worse, or create complications. Too often people of all ages, young and old are left "eating their words" or "with their foot in their mouth." This is why we must learn that there is a time to say nothing or at least watch what we say throughout life. That is why it takes "a lifetime to learn."

Sometimes, and for some people this differs, it takes longer to know when to talk, and how you should say what your trying to say. It's hard to explain, because not everyone agrees with that, but you have to learn to talk without hurting people's feelings, or making people angry, or sad. Learning to be tactful may take longer for some than others. I'm sorry, that's the best I can explain it. Have an awesome day :)

You should really get new friends, I mean it. Or, you could move... I agree with you, learning how to talk is one of the hardest things to do. Maybe the expression "lifetime" is not clear enough to your friends, maybe they don't perceive it as an abstract term... Or maybe they're not really listening to you because they do not feel capable of philosophical discussions. -get new friends.

The concept makes perfect sense to me.

You could have worded the question a bit less awkwardly though.

my grandmother used to say, even pigs bear young ones and ots of them too. But it is the human who rear their children to be great adults.

What ever you do, do it right.
Doing it right takes a life time (sometimes not enough).
