Basically, which brand is better to burn pictures and the such on?

I'm meaning the blank disks...which brand is better to use, HP or Sony...

Sony is a little better, actually you should get Verbatim, they are one of the best out there and are fairly inexpensive, better than either of these two.

HP and Sony are both great name brands. Go with the cheaper one, because it shouldn't matter. If you were talking about a name brand compared to a generic brand, then I'd probably go with the name brand if you really want your money's worth, but generic brands do work most of the time.

CD's and DVD's are seldom made by the company who sells them, and those two brands may well be made by the same company.
Disk manufactures, which there are very few of, make them for large corporations and brand them with their logos.
I use all brands, whatever is cheaper, and to date have had no problem with any. When doing write test speeds and overburning tests with Nero, you find that many different brand names are manufactured by the same company.

hp dosen,t build there burners, sony does, although some sony burners are actually built by liteon! hmmmmmmmm
