Let's say that the schools are kinda equal. I'm thinking of MSU in Ann Arbor - Mitchigan, Indiana University in Bloomingtoon or University of pittsburgh in Pittsburgh - Pennsylvania. I'm looking to attend the school of business in one of these universities. Not sure what to major in yet though. I have a bad college experience in Detroit, MI so which one is the safest, Most suitable for undergraguate studies and offer the best standard of living for a standard college-boy budget excluding tuition because I'm on a scholarship. Safety and friendly people are a MUST. I've had enough in Detroit lol.

IU and Michigan are nearly equal as far as their business schools are concerned. Both of them rank in the US News as top 10 programs, and the top 5 for public colleges. You would get an excellent education at either of these. But both of them are very competitive for admission, not sure how easy it is to get into either as a transfer.

If you are a MI resident, then it would probably be much less expensive for you to stay in-state and go to Michigan (especially if you are on a scholarship) than to attend IU-Bloomington as an out of state student, unless you get a university scholarship from IU that will make up for the increase in tuition.

The cost of living and the rent in Ann Arbor is WAY higher than in Bloomington. I lived in B-ton for awhile and have friends who I visit often in Ann Arbor, and I prefer Bloomington because it's a nice small city with a great campus and it's super laid-back and friendly down there. Plus the weather in southern Indiana is much warmer with less snow. Both cities have a good college scene with lots of bars and restaurants and things to do. Both have great sports teams, lots of school spirit, and good parties. I think both are safe and a great place for undergrad, but I still prefer Indiana because it's more of a smaller college town and further from Detroit.

As far as Pitt goes, I only know that they are more reasonably priced for out of state tuition, they do have some decent scholarships, their business school is respectable, and the campus is in a very urban setting. If you want to get away from living in the city and into more of a safe, college town atmosphere, it would definately be better to go to IU or Michigan.

U of M has the 3rd best business school in the country so they aren't kind of equal. It's awesome, and not that far from Detroit but very safe. You don't like Wayne State? Is that the college you are talking about? Ann Arbor has a great standard of living, but if you are talking about a budget you might also want to know that the cost of living is also very high. Us Wolverines fix that problem by getting a job on campus. Or two. Everyone is so nice here though I've heard not as nice as Michigan State. There are a lot of preppy b****** (girls only) in the business school. You'll like it if you come here. See you soon!

Wait a minute!!! I just realized your question says "MSU" in Ann Arbor. Gasp! MSU is in Lansing and we hate them. Go blue! Oh, and the previous comment is right. Ann Arbor does cater very much to college students, like $2 Latte Wednesdays at Expresso Royale :-).

I have visited university of pittsburgh's campus and love it. Although it is urban, it's still a nice city with generally friendly residents. Every now and then you'll get a crazy guy begging for things, and there are some bad sections of pittsburgh, but that's what you're gonna get in a city.

Michigan State seems like a good choice if you want the "school spirit" scene. It seems like its in an area that is geared towards college students and caters to them, and is near home I guess if you are from detroit.

Indiana I have also heard nice things about, but its indiana, come on. Theres nothing to do. Go with Pitt or MSU.

Business School at IU is better. The campus is very safe, and to walk around at night is fine. There is a true sense of community bc the town is small while the school is large. Lots of extracurricular activities.
