My daughter is 11 and turns 12 in june. This has been a big year for her she started shaving her legs and armpits and has also wanted to atsrt wearing cute panties and bras. She still has no REAL boobs yet so I still buy her bras in the girls department but we started buying her cute panties from the womens department. She loves it and I dont mind..her dad on the other hand has put frouth rules when buying underwear..no thongs yet and nothing see through or to lacey. She doesnt seem to mind the rules at all. Its actully a great way to spend girl time with her(shopping for them) since shes now at the age where she wants to be with her friends more. There are really cute ones that dont show a whole lot to..she loves the little boyshorts.

well, I am a little older than most of you answering and i have a daughter turning 20 soon.
I guess through the years, trends have gotten more relaxed...
in the '60s I was made to wear all the proper garments-panties, bras, a slip(always!) with a dress, and stockings/pantyhose.
Now, i have thrown out the slip and pantyhose -
for my daughter, i insisted she wear the bra and panties but there is a reason for this....
it's true that the bra will keep your breasts in shape and panties are more sanitary.. helps with less infection etc.
i don't understand the concept of the thong... it just looks so uncomfortable!!
listen to the rule of the bra and sensible panties-- you will be glad you did when you are older!

My mom would never let me buy pretty underwear or bras. I always had to get white everything. My mom was a little crazy about that stuff though because she was sexually active at 15 and got pregnant, so I wasn't allowed to talk to boys either. I have a one year old daughter, and I understand that girls like to wear pretty underwear because it makes them feel pretty, and it is not always because someone else is going to see it!!!!! So my daughter can get all the pretty pink, striped, polka-dotted, rosebudded bras and underwear she wants(when she's old enough of couse lol)! I don't ever want to make her feel the way my mom made me feel about those things. It was just horrible.

I'm a Mom of two teenage daughters. One is almost 17, and the other is 14. I completely disagree with today's teens (or really any age) wearing that thong underwear. I've heard all of the arguments about comfort. I say, PUHLEEZE! Thong underwear is nothing more than an inappropriate opportunity to be an exhibitionist, and it is completely about showcasing one's rear, especially when it's hanging out over the top of their jeans or pants. What happened to the notion of leaving something to the imagination, something to be desired? And to be feminine and pretty, not to imitate a sex kitten or porn-star! I really feel sorry for this generation of girls -- they really are doing themselves a huge dis-service. I wouldn't want to live with that huge expectation every day of my life.

I do not have a daughter but someday I (hopefully) will. I will not make her to wear a bra. Out in public I would prefer she wear one but then again I'll respect that she is her own person.
I've seen your questions on here often. I can understand why you dislike that bra. Try talking with your mom about it. Explain that you'd be more than happy to go try on bras at a department store to see what she approves of. Have you tried looking at modest push up bras or sports bras? That's the trick. Just explain to her how you feel and hopefully she'll understand!

i'm a mom with 4 women and that i'd haven't any difficulty with procuring you the undies that you needed (if she has the money. If no longer settle for some more reasonable undies) It type of bothers me that you felt you mandatory to further the very incontrovertible reality that you wouldnt educate it to any boys. If i became your mom that would want to develop a pink flag with me and that i'd be staring at you really close!

While my daughter is too young for this right now, they will be the law. A teenager needs to wear a bra and have appropriate panties on. The only reason not to wear a bra or underwear, or to wear lacy bra or thongs, etc, is for sex appeal. No teenager needs to be worrying about looking sexy under her clothes. She needs to find her self worth with her mind and personality.
