Honestly, I don't know what the big deal with the Beatles is. I'm not really a fan of their music. When I was a teenager, my girlfriend was in love with the Beatles, so I had to listen to their White Album all the freakin' time. I'm sure that they influenced alot of musicians, but they don't really "rock".

Maybe their musical prowess as compared to todays standards is lacking a little. But not by much. Look what they accomplished way back then in the 60's, when there was literaly no music technology! They inovated the way most musicians play and record today, whether any of them will admit it, or even know! Their music is still played, covered and idolized some 40 years after it was started! There are few that can say that. And for only being at it for 10 years, who else has left a mark like that on the music industry? Everyone is entitled to their opinion and each person has his or her own musical taste, but surely you cannot say that they were bad musicians? If you play guitar, pick it up and see if you can play the intro to Daytripper right off the bat! It's a tough rif, ask any guitar player. Just listen and realize what they did, when they did it. You might have a little more respect for them at least. Keep on listening, music...any kind of music makes the world a better place!

I suppose your musical tastes are real boy bands like n sync or backstreet boys, and I will bet your idea if music is pre programmed computerized sounds that require no talent in musical knowledge whatsoever. These 4 "lads" changed music forever and they laid the foundation for what we hear today. When they began, their chords and chord changes were innovative, their harmonies are unparalled to this day, and bands today only wish they come close to what those 4 accomplished in a matter of only 10 years. As they grew, both personally and musically, their experimentation into the science of sound and music and recording same, were something that had never been done before. The song "I Feel Fine", for example, is the FIRST time feedback had ever been used in a song. They did all sorts of firsts, and musically they refined their art. Ringo's style of drumming, though not the greatest drummer in the world, has never been considered bad, his style was unique because his beat was off, so it worked. However, John, Paul, and George developed into some of the finest musicians the world has produced. Paul is considered one of the finest bassists ever, though he could also play guitar, piano, drums, and trumpet. John, a virtuoso guitarist, and organ/pianist. And Eric Clapton will admit George gave him a run for his money. So essentially, you are wrong completely, and your comment/question only accentuates your ignorance. Music really isn't your category......get it?

None of them were good musicians?!? Paul McCartney changed the way bass was played in rock and roll, because he played it more like a guitar. Ringo Starr is arguably the finest drummer in rock and roll. George Harrison could play anything with strings, and was considered among the greatest guitarists of all time. John Lennon could play nearly any instrument, and play it well, from classical to abstract rock to blues. Your statement shows you only to be uninformed, narrow minded, and ignorant. Please, actually LISTEN to the Beatles, not just a cursory blast on the CD player, but actually listen to the nuances of their music, and you will see that they were not only great musicians, but were so far ahead of everyone else it was insane. Even now, people and bands strive to match the sounds of the Beatles.

None were good musicians? The much underrated George Harrison is ranked #21 on Rolling Stone's top 100 guitarists. Thus ranked ahead of the guitarists of Queen, Pink Floyd, U2 and a ton of others you might think to deem better musicians.

I'd suggest that you pick up a history book while listening to your I-Pod. Their influence rose far above their musical talents.
From Wikipedia:
The Beatles were a highly influential English rock band from Liverpool. They are the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful popular music band in history. Their innovative music and style helped to define the 1960s, and they continue to be held in high regard for their artistic achievements, their huge commercial success, their role in the history of popular music, and their contributions to popular culture. Although their initial musical style was rooted in the sounds of 1950s rock and roll, the group explored a great variety of genres ranging from Tin Pan Alley to psychedelic rock.
The Beatles were the best-selling popular musical act of the 20th century. In the United Kingdom alone, they released more than 40 different singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one. This commercial success was repeated in many other countries: EMI estimated that by 1985, the band had sold over one billion discs or tapes worldwide. The RIAA has certified The Beatles as the top selling artists of all time in America based on U.S. sales of singles and albums.
The Beatles were a major force behind the "British Invasion" of UK-based popular bands in the United States in the mid-1960s and they helped to pioneer more advanced, multi-layered arrangements in pop music. The Beatles' impact extended well beyond their music. Their clothes, hairstyles, and statements made them trend-setters from the 1960s to this day, while their growing social awareness — reflected in the development of their music — saw their influence extend into the social and cultural revolutions of the 1960s.

Are you 12 or something? None of them were good musicians? Baby, you don't know how good they were. You wish you could write songs like John and Paul that changed the history of music. What, you're Mozart, and know what good musicians are? How many songs have you written and published?

Although I didn't like them when they first came to the U.S., I have learned to appreciate them in later years since stereo technology improved. They learned to be great musicians in time. They were always great showmen. They made money. What else is there?

I have two words for you: Lennon & McCartney. Not too bad for a songwriting partnership.
They blended Black rock-n-roll with the acceptance of the white commmunity, because they WERE white. They were influenced by Little Richard and many other Black rock-n-rollers. Elvis and Bobby Darin would never be the same after that invasion.
