If you care so much about his wife, then you need to let your cousin know that what he is doing to his wife is wrong. You also need to tell his wife that she needs to report him the next time this happens to her. This is assault and batter.
If you witness a crime are you just going to sit there and do nothing about it? You have just witness a crime by not calling the police on your cousin. So if you love your cousin, then help him by calling the police or advise him to seek counseling for his abuse on alcohol.
His wife doesn't deserve someone like him. She should consider on getting out of the relationship from this man. He is abusive to her, and she should get out especially if they both have kids. She needs to protect her kids from him if he is violent.
I hope you do the right thing too....don't be a stand by, by watching someone get hurt, you are just as guilty as the person who his committing the crime. Something to think about.

There is a quality called "tough love." It is the kind of love that requires action, but the action is hard to take. The end result of tough love is that people are moved to become responsible and the pain and hurt can come to an end.
The question is will you take action with "tough love?" Recognize the possible consequences that your relationship with your cousin will end. However in the long run, the will thank you for it. But what do you do when you see someone drowning? You can't just stand by and walk away.

I know you don't want your cousin to go to jail, but maybe his wife would be safer if he did. Talk to his wife and make sure that she knows that the family isn't going to hate her if she called the cops on him because everybody knows that he needs help and that's the only way he's going to get it.

you can support your cousins wife by being by her side. only she can take the steps to begin to get herself out of the situation. look up your local battered women programs for more instructions on how to better assist your cousins wife cuz she needs all the outside support she can get if she indeed is in this abusive relationship. good luck.

Even if he's your cousin, he's still in the wrong. Tell her to call the cops or do it yourself...
I can't believe it's 2007 and people still beat up on their wives...

The only thing you can do is help her leave him. Abusers are always abusers and they never change or stop.

Who cares if he's your cousin, he abused his wife.
He needs help...before he kills her.
