Start from point A, travel 65 km north to point B and then travel 75 km to the east to point C.
Now ABC is a right angled triangle with hypotenuse AC. Using Pythagoras's theorem, (AC)^2=(65)^2+(75)^2=4225+5625=
9825. Taking square root, AC=99.25 km. approx. to 2 decimal places.

Did your teacher cover the Pythagorean Theorem?

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

Plug in 65 and 75, square each of them, add them together.

That gives you c^2, which you don't want, you just want c.

So take the square root!

about 99 km
