Funny you should mention that- when I fart, there's a strong gas oder too! Get a gas expert to come in to investigate your stove before it blows up or you suffocate to death from toxic fumes!

If you can still smell gas after 5 minutes, do not use this stove until you've had the gas company check it out. In all the cities I've lived in, they will do it for free and tell you what's wrong. You are in danger of causing an explosion if you use this stove. Make do with the microwave until you have it checked out.

Often it is the connector hose from the gas outlet to the stove but this is not something to mess around with yourself, if you value your life. Entire buildings have been leveled to the ground due to faulty gas connections.

Yes, you can call your gas company. But to inform you of how to find a possible leak, you can use soapy water to apply at the connection fitings to and inside your range. If it starts to bubble, then you have to turn off the gas and reseal the connection with the proper putty or gas teflon tape.

Some gas stoves are quite sensitive in this area. The stove needs to be reset. Call your local gas company, some offer this service, or your local LPG supplier. Some do not. Then the next best bet is your dealer you got the stove from. The land lord or hire someone to come in a adjust the pilots. Don't mess with them yourself.

If you smell gas only when you turn on the range,
It's not igniting properly or if its LP i may need conversion(if yellow instead of blue fame, do not use), call for appliance repair, if you smell gas all the time call your gas company.

Call a gas technician - a leak can be in the tubing between the valve and burner or in the valve itself. Both of these things are not uncommon and dangerous. A simple soap solution of dish soap and water will show a leak.
