I understand your reluctance to see the DR. the ones here just hand out Motrin and say it will be fine. You can go here for tons of info

Hope it helps.

I've had leg cramps in the past and I was told by my doctor that they could be caused by lack of calcium or potasium. Also, If you exercise and sweat a lot, you need to drink something like Gatorade to replace the minerals in your body, as you can get leg cramps from that also.

At your age, I would have to say it's growing pains. I remember having them too, and they were quite annoying...and a little painful, too! I remember being worried about it, and sometimes it was so uncomfortable, I couldn't sleep at night. If it persists like for a really long time, like 6 months to a year, go to a Dr. Otherwise, this, too shall pass!

theres an upset going on in the body with nutrients. if your active you should be eating at least 1,200 calories a day. make sure your not in deficit with potassium and sodium as well as other nutrients such as protein.
the most serious thing i can think of now that could cause it, is starving your body and / or diabetes.

sometimes not enough sleep can cause leg cramps..But you really should see a dr because they have ways of helping you..If it was no big deal as you claim then why ask?

i have them, too, but in my calves. i heard that its from not getting all the CO2 out of your lungs when you breathe. usually this happens at night when you usually breathe deeper. it can also happen if you're asthmatic or aren't breathing properly for some reason. just try to breathe deeply every once in a while, and make sure that you are drinking enough water. stress can also add to it.

You could be dehydrated or maybe you put some extra stress on your legs that you don't recall. I would bother with going to the doc unless it keeps persisting.

If you don't know what happened and if this has been going on for a week, you DO need to go to the doctor.

If you workout you can get some cramps, but if you don't I would get it checked out by a doctor it could be your diet.
