How old is your toddler? I would not give your child Honey until they are old enough to tell you something is wrong. In case they have an allergic reaction.

There's bacteria in honey that can make a young child very sick. I would suggest waiting until the child is 2 and then watch closely for any signs of problems.

Children under one year of age should not be given honey because thier bodies do not have the capability to properly handle the raw materieals in it and can get botulisim from it and possible die.

I never even gave my children honey. They can live nicely without it; and since there is a problem with babies' having it why take chances at all with it.

Kids over 12 months can have honey unless they are immunosuppressed. (The risk of contracting Botulism exists for babies since their immune systems are immature)

After 12 months it's okay http://www.babycenter.com/plus/readyornot/articles/food/112
As with any new "food", you should try it first in the morning, that way if your child gets a reaction it won't be in the middle of the night. But still monitor them afterwards.
