wouldn't that be subject to area, county, etc.? many tavern owners have guns or other protection behind the bar but not all 'protection' is legal. you mention texas gun law. i do know that a convenience store owners/workers have guns behind the counters, especially when working late hours & by themselves. they also sell beer, liquor & tobacco - and it's legal with a permit (of the gun holder). got to check the local/country laws & by-laws. a simple blanket yes or no just won't cut it today!

I think that anyone in Texas can have a firearm behind the counter.
