Wearing a Parka Jacket?

Question

I bought a parka from abercrombie and it arrived today. It's not something I'm goig to return but its pretty big on me.

I kinda look like Mod almost like Jimmy from Quadrophenia.

I need to know what I can do to make this work.

Layers? Accessories? Anything?

I bought this online from an employee but on an independent sale.

If you look inside at the waist, they should have a pull string with locking grommets that cinchs in the waist. Do this. Either cinch it in as far as it will go, or as far as you need to, to make it fit comfortably snug around your waist. Do this in front of a full length mirror to see how it looks on you. You might want to play around with the amount of cinch until you reach something that you are happy with.

I always wear a long scarf with my leather anorak (which is the English word for these coats). Something that is longer than it, so that the eye is drawn past the jacket and down.

Then I like teaming it with mini skirts that barely show from under the coat, and really interesting textured tights, and knee high boots. And with this I usually wear a knit cloche hat, because I don't like toques.

If its a little bigger than expected and you dont want to go through the trouble of returning it, I would suggest wearing skinny jeans(whatever color that matches your parka) and maybe a small t-shirt with a colored tank top over it. Dont forget cute earrings!

You pretty much can't return it. Any extra layers than you would normally wear would make you look too bulky so continue to dress normal and feel confident in a larger jacket.

i used to have a down parka and felt huuuuuggggeee. i don't think you should layer because it would make you look (and feel) even more like a marshmallow.
i just left mine unzipped and didn't add too much to my outfit.

I'd return it for a smaller size.
