Caffeine in any form is dehydrating. If you are addicted to Coke (as I am), it is a good idea to make sure you drink one full glass of water for every glass of soda. I drink caffeine-free Coke (not diet) most of the time, I only have one with caffeine in the morning to help me wake up because I don't like coffee.

Yes, the caffeine acts a diuretic so you actually lose more water. After you have one soda you should make yourself drink a bottle of water in the same amount until you allow yourself to have another. If you don't want to do that, at least drink caffeine free soda.

Yes, caffeine is a diuretic and if that is all you drink, it'll do more than that. Soda is not good for you at all. You need to quit that habit. Water is essential for the body to function properly. Start substituting water for soda, you will notice a big difference in how you feel.
Soda has sugar, chemicals, and colorings that hold in fat cells, aggravate health problems, cause diabetes, etc., etc. They are very very bad to drink all the time.

Soda does dehydrate you, but not enough to cancel out the water that is in it. It's a myth that soda, tea, coffee, and beer are worse than nothing at all. The best hydration drink is of course water, soda doesn't compete, but if it's between that and nothing, soda is definitely the answer.

Theoretically it should due to the caffeine, but coffee doesn't seem to affect me that way. I drink it black though, so that won't account for the preservatives, dyes and sugars in soda. Soda is just about the least healthy thing you can drink. Gatorade and similar drinks are bad, too. Try to switch to carbonated mineral water, teas and such... and of course, regular water.

No, that contains plenty of water. However, the sugar and caffeine can cause lots of problems including headaches, muscle aches, problems with acidity, weight gain, stomach/disgetive pain, gas and rotten teeth. You shouldn't drink caffeine or carbonated or sugary drinks in excess.

Yes it can. As someone who has been through this off and on for years, I know and hate having an IV. Please try drinking something else flavored water, Gatorade,Powerade, plain water, juice. I know it's hard when you are on the go. I drink a ton of Pepsi, but I now drink as much water so that I don't go to the hospital to get fluids pushed into me.

Absolutely. Caffeine is a diuretic. It will make you excrete fluids and electrolytes... It can also deplete calcium from your bones. Be careful.
