Great Question...

Most people who answer might not have experienced the depths of depression that can lead to suicidal ideation, planning, and sometimes follow-through.

A lot, and I mean A LOT of people suffere Chronic Depression. A lot of those people are, indeed, alone. They feel alone, suffer alone, and some do not have family. If the person does NOT have friends or family and commits suicide, then....they would just fade away.

The main argument has been that it is the Ultimate Act of Selfishness. In most cases, this is true, but with some instances, I disagree.

For Instance: What is the difference between Severe Physical Pain and Severe Emotional Pain? People who Commit Suicide are usually in Chronic Severe Emotional Pain and it's every bit as painful and sometimes more debilitating than physical pain.

Believe me, I do not share my thoughts ignorantly. I've experienced the Depths of Depression. I've also known people who have attempted suicide and some of them successfully. It's not a light subject.

Yes...Suicide is an option for ending ones life.

Suicide is never a viable option. It is not an option at all. The person who answered yes and said they have "been there". Does that mean they committed suicide? How can it be they've been there and still be alive? I'm pretty depressed in my life right now, but I believe if people don't accept Jesus as Lord and savior and they die be it means of suicide or hit by a bus. If you die without Jesus you will go to HELL. I'd rather be miserable here on earth than in Hell with Satan and his angels.

Of course it can be done but is it worth doing? I guess it depends on whether you want to live or die, obviously. I always thought of it as a cowards way out. Selfish. I feel for the family of people who kill themselves. Also, for the person but when they are gone, who are the ones left to suffer? I have seen the effects of suicide on those that are left behind. It's definitely not a good thing. So, anyway, I'm not sure viable should be part of the question. Is it an option? Sure. We all have choices to make in our lives. It's making the choice that we can live with, not die with that matters. It takes more courage to live than it does to kill yourself.

I'm wondering why you use the word "viable" which means surviving or capable of living on its own. Be careful who you ask as most mental health people are legally required to report any one they consider suicidal. It got me locked up because my social worker was over zealous.

Throwing all of the religious and moral bias aside, id still say that there is no problem yu cant fix (well, except pyschotic breakdowns). Just suck it up, continue with yur life, move on, grow up. period.
Sounds cold but people go through much worse, and yu still here success stories from them.

Sure. If you are dying a slow painful death from cancer and there is no hope. If you are 95, can't walk, can't speak properly and are hospitalized with great pain. That about covers it. Basically any time you are dying a slow painful death. Never because you are gloomy or just feel hopeless.

you used the word viable wrong
it means capable of living, not workable
but no, suicide is not a feasible option
getting away from everything, like moving, that might be better

for 99 per cent of cases NO! The only exception for me is someone who is terminally ill , is suffering and feels that they have absolutely no quality of life after they've talked to psychologists or psychiatrists , priests/ministers/rabbis/imams and their family member or close friends.
