what type information is needed to apply for food stamps in Texas and do they check out that information. I have money in savings and do not want that to effect me. I have no income and will be trying to pay my bills with the money in savings.

Use the USDA's on-line food stamps
pre-Screening eligibility tool to see if you qualify, this isn't an application for food stamps, it will just let you know the rules that affect you.

They're going to ask a lot of questions, including the amount in savings, but you can have some money in savings and still qualify. Filling out the forms is complex, it's best to go to a nonprofit that helps people with it, because they know how to do it, and they can answer your questions about it, and they can probably get you other kinds of assistance, like with utilities, as well.
