Just tell them that whatever they think of you doesn't change the fact that they are not doing thier job as required....and if they REALLY think that you are a racist then they're just gonna have to make double sure that they don't give you a reason!
I hate when people use political no-no's as a crutch! My husband works w/ a guy that is always falling asleep at work, when he confronts the guy, he says my hubby is disrespectful towards veterans....PLEASE-give me a BREAK!!!! He as well as everybody in his family served! Just WAKE UP and do your friggin job!

Ah... the race card. Well cuz that is how they stop you from disciplining them. Keep documentation about issues discussed. whether writing them up or not. Just show the facts, hard to be called a racist when you can prove they've been late 4 out of 5 days. If the get complaints have costumers fill something out. Document everything but stick to the facts. More often then not it is a scare tactic.

Yep. I once asked an employee to rewash a window he'd just washed in our office because it was full of streaks.
He went running to the boss, claiming I'd picked on him because he is Native American. No, I picked on him because he didn't get the window clean. It hadn't even occurred to me that he was of a different race than I am.
You'd better be ready to back up your decisions with the employee handbook, or the regulations for your department.
Every time anything like this happens, make sure you document it with place, date, time of day, and exactly what happened, and what was said. You may need to recall it all, some day.

That is what you have an HR department for. Tell HR what is happening and ask that next time you have to tell someone that you have a problem with their work you would like to do it in the presence of an HR person.
Remember that those who "play the race card" are themselves being racist and you have as much right to fair treatment from them as they have from you.

I'd have to see how you interact and what you say to those people in order to form my own opinion about you as to whether you are a racist or not. I'm not saying you are a racist, but the reality is that very few racists are either aware that they are or would admit it. Again, .. not that you are. Good Luck ! :)

do oyou only come down on the people of another race. I mean if you are never seen coming down on people of your own race then that does make people wonder. Spread it around, act like a ***** to everybody or nobody. If you single out only a few people, you better be damn sure they are the slackest employees you go, or be prepared to be called a racist.

Because that is their defense. That is how they control you. As long as you are in the right, continue to confront them. Tell them that you are not about to listen to their BS.
Never back off from this kind of thing. You will be handling control to your problem. Document their actions. Make sure that everyone that you supervise knows that you treat everybody fairly, but you are not about to put up with their nonsense.
