Turn off system restore. Run an anti virus program to scan your files and get rid of what has infected you. Then uninstall and re install
windows. For heavens sake check out mozilla and firefox.

This hidden directory contains a corrupted file, or a file involved in a worm or trojan infection you have.

Boot your computer into safe mode with command prompt.
When you get the command window type the following:

cd \
cd docu*
cd username
attrib *.* -h -s -r
cd loca*
cd temp
attrib *.* -h -s -r /s
del *.* /s
(keep typing this del command until you get a message that no more files could be found)
exit

This will clear all the bogies in the temp directory

boot your system normally and your search should work.
Get you system scanned by some good anti-spyware like the free scan given at www.trendmicro.com.
