Masturbation is not seen as wrong as per the Bible, that idea really came about in the 18th Century as a social phenomenon.

Eastern philosophies might say it's wrong in the sense that it is a symptom of a lack of self control or lack of spiritual pre-occupation.

The best 'quit' strategies are.
Replacement- find something you enjoy and, where you get the masturbation urge do that instead.
Outlet- keep a diary and write down when and why you got the urge. (This probably works pretty well if you are honest enough in what you write down- why could be tricky to answer but just trying provides a quasi-release)
Wind down- instead of going cold turkey cut down the amount you masturbate gradually.

Ok obviously no one here understands the "sin" part of it, AT ALL. And Kimi, is an idiot! Just for the record. As a Christian, I have long wondered about this. As a single parent I had once had the pleasure of sex and highly enjoyed it. Now that I am single again, I have urges. I too think these urges are quite normal. Here's the catch. If your having urges I assume its safe to say you most likely have already had sex, or some sort of pleasing sexual experience that as a single girl should not have. This opens us up to wanting more. God said not to do it, NOT to give us yet another rule but because he knew that it would lead us to some dark places He didnt want to see us visit. The masturbation, although not a sexual act with another person still falls under sexual impurity. With masturbation the sexual thoughts first began with a thought. A thought lead you to a deeper desire, and the desire lead you to the action. The actions wont always stop there. Eventually you will become desensitized to the masturbation and want more. Its just that masturbation leads you down a path you dont want to be on as a Christ follower. It leaves you wanting more and continually thinking about sexual pleasures. If you are materbating is your focus on Christ? Nope. But thats where it's supposed to be. Pray about it. God's a loving God who understands ALL of our desires. He already knows you did it, so pray about it. And again, Kimi is a flippin' idiot! For the record.

I would suggest going to a website that offers this kind of information. No matter what anybody tells you, it is morally wrong and I applaud you for asking for assistance in this matter. Also, attending church and asking GOD for strength will help you to stop. Keep your head up, kiddo!

It's also "morally wrong" for priests to rape children, but that doesn't seem to stop some people. I'm sure this "God" fella has better things to worry about (like the prevalence of child rape) than you getting off, but if you'd like to try and suppress your sexual urges despite millenia of evolution fighting against such suppression, be my guest.

Why is it morally wrong? Are you doing it in front of people? Just keep it to yourself and forget about it.... Anyway what kind of help? I don't think there is any... except telling you it is NORMAL.

Whoever told you it is morally wrong is an idiot. It is OK, everyone does it and it helps you release stress and sexual frustration. But like everything else excess is bad.

Masturbation is actually good for you, and it isn't really morally wrong, but I guess you can go cold turkey and just "quit". Easier said than done, though...

I think you should do some soul-searching before cutting something out of your life for "moral" reasons.
