Iv'e never heard it used as a name, but I like it! It's really cool! All these other people are just narrow-minded. I think that if you want to name him Lucky, then do it. I really don't think he'll be made fun of for his name-I've heard stranger names than that.

I find the name "Lucky" to be too pet-like to bestow on a human. Did you know there is a high correlation of people with odd names to doing poorly in school and in the workplace? They also tend to come from lower socio-economic classes (source below), even if celebritites do it all the time.
Can you imagine the irony of being the kid at the bottom of the class rank and being named Lucky? What if he gets stuck in a dead-end career path?
If you'd like to name him something that conveys the same meaning as "lucky," why not search for names by meaning and find something with a non-negative connotation. I listed a site below where you can do that. Some of the names it pulled up that mean lucky were odd, but you can always enter synonyms in too.
These came up for "lucky."

Why don't you name him Luke and you can call him Lucky at home? As he gets older, if he likes to be called Lucky, he'll have his friends call him that. But if he hates it, you find out soon enough. I can hear the teasing now--Yucky Lucky, Sucky Lucky, and the list goes on and on...
I see why you like Lucky for all the happy and positive images it brings to mind but he's your son and you adore him. To the other kids, he'll just be any other kid but with a 'different' name. Most kids don't do well with anything 'different'. Liking to be unique, including your name, comes later in life.

Sure!
If you're calling your puppy! For the sake of your child's well-being DONT DO IT!!
Name him Luke, it's close to Lucky but at lease you won't make his school life a living hell!
P.S. don't even use the name (Lucky) as a pet name for him, it's weird...

No way. Consider people's reaction when he's an adult. Can you imagine someone's first impression after seeing that name on a resume'?
Would you go to a doctor or an attorney named "Lucky?"

NO NO NO and finally NO! Come on,Lucky? Its like somthing you'd name a dog. This is a REAL person whos going to have to live with this terrible name. I think people have gone wayyyy to far with all these "unique" names. Most of them sound absolutely rediculous. Like naming your kid Madison but spelling it Madyson or somthing. It just SCREAMSSSS ignorance!!!

Your right. If he's not popular, it could backfire. But still, you could use it for a nickname.
BTW-I used to know a guy named Lucky. Worked with him at a pizza place. Not sure if its his real name. I had no opinion of him either way, not hot, but not weird. I always remembered his name easily.

I had a cat named Lucky once. But I wouldn't name my child Lucky. Maybe you could use Lucky as a nick name.
