As stated, a broad knowledge of different varieties of wine, the best vintages, the appropriate meal to complement a certain wine.

It can be learned by experience, or by attending a specialty academy , similar to a cooking school.

The earning potential is excellent if you know your stuff, & interact well w people. People who drink expensive wine tend to be outstanding tippers.

Take a wine tasting course,familiarise yourself with the famous wine growing regions of the world.Take a course in Wine service,become a Wine steward and Time will tell.I dont know about the earning potential.

Not sure about earning potential, but you need to know a wole lot about wine! And know it well, to be paid anything good.
