I wonder the same thing. I hear people argue that the method of Saddam's hanging was cruel but it seems that, since the whole purpose of the operation is to KILL someone, trying to make it comfortable or pleasant serves no purpose. The person to be hung is being executed! Besides, Saddam was a murderer responsible for horrible genocide. We should not weep for him!

Saddam was not hanged by the USA, he was tried and hanged right there in his own country. The USA just held him until it was all over. And yes, India dislikes the USA, they have since we bombed Japan. Yet they all want to come to the USA to work and make money to send home. It isn't just the muslims of India either. The Hindu's dislike the USA just as much. The reason they liked him so much is that he was in their favor against Pakistan over the land North that they both fight over. He also like a few of their celebrities and always asked about them. They didn't have to live under their control. Maybe they needed to have been. Also too, he gave them all the oil they needed.

I'm glad that Saddam is dead. In fact, I requested it as a prayer request in church one night. But the thing I didn't like about the hanging was that they botched it something fierce. They made him out to be a saint and like he never did anything wrong in his life. They were acting so bloodthirsty that Saddam looked so innocent going up there. Of course, he's not, and I never believed that he wasn't. However, if the Americans could have done the hanging it would have gone a lot smoother and they would've made him look like the criminal he is.

I don't know of anyone who thinks that Saddam shouldn't have been hanged, but it wasn't the US that did the world that favor. It was the Iraqi courts that tried, convicted and hanged him. I hope he is looking up from his little "spider hole in Hell" and can see just how few people did care or had any sympathy for him at all.

in the U.S. media, have you ever seen a man executed in a chair, seconds before he is to die? I haven't. If anybody has, do correct me. This was a humiliation tactic, to all the people of the Middle East. Basically saying, "look, i'm screwing over one of your leaders right in front of you and you can't do anything about it!"
And the reason why some are mourning for him is because they are Sunni's. Sunni's dislike Shiite's -- Saddam killed a pissload of Shiite's so he is basically looked upon as a hero.

Saddam was hanged by Iraq, not by the US.
Saddam had his followers, otherwise he couldn't have stayed in power so long. Naturally they mourn him.
Besides this, maybe some people are just ignorant about him.

Most civilized nations are against capital punishment.
Maybe that's why?
