If you have a ''pay as you go'' phone,and have no minutes left,can you still text and Recieve texts?This person has one thru nextel.Thanks !

No, once you are out of minutes that is it. Unless he has the text plan which is different from the voice plan. You did not state what plans he had, e.g. text plan or just only the voice plan

I googled some plans and apparently the voice and text plans are different. So you can not talk but still text. What he needs to do is get a Pocket or Cricket phone. There are other phone companies besides these two, but they are a FLAT $37 a month, unlimited minutes, unlimited text messages, and some other features and pay as you go per month.

If you're using a trac phone and you still have time remaining for your service period, you do not need minutes to recieve txt messages. You will need call minutes to send them though.
