hello,
well....the fastest way is by taking a cab.it will cost you take or give 60U$ and it takes about 45 min to playa.(no way somebody will do it in 20 min.).that's a flat rate not charged per person.in other words if you travel on your own it is not to recommend.
then there are what's called "collectivos".these are mini vans which you share with about eight others.that will cost you about 20U$ to 25U$ per person.the thing is that they do not leave till they have enough passengers.
also you can prearrange your transportation by using one of the links below.just check the rates.
and last but absolutely not least there are buses (the company is called ADO).they leave the airport every 30 min and only cost 5 U$.they are save,modern,comfortable and air conditioned.they are located at the other end of the main terminal from where you arrive.no worries....it only takes you 2 min the most to walk there...it's cancun airport...not atlanta.they drop you off in playa at avenida juarez at the corner with la quinta (5th avenue). depending on where you stay you have to take a taxi from there.if it is within playa del carmen it will cost you close to 2 U$ and if you have to enter playacar it's 5 U$.

It depends what are you looking for. The fastest and more confortable way is airplane. You can also take a bus but it will be a long voyage, problematic if you don't know spanish because most bus stations are in zones what can become a little dangerous if you cannot talk to people to get directions. Also you may take a cruisier but that is costly, a tourist attraction in itself

there are taxis at the airport that can take you, the prices are listed at the airport, playa de carmen is only 20mins from cancun airport.
