Metaphors are comparisons that show how two things that are not alike in most ways are similar in one important way. Metaphors are a way to describe something. Authors use them to make their writing more interesting or entertaining.
Examples of metaphors:
Brian was a wall, bouncing every tennis ball back over the net.
We would have had more pizza to eat if Tammy hadn’t been such a hog.
Cindy was such a mule. We couldn’t get her to change her mind.

A metaphor is saying that something is something else. But a simile is saying something is similar to something else and uses the words like or as. These two are sometimes confused to be careful of that.
Metaphor Examples: 1) He is a pig. 2)Thou art sunshine.
You probably get what I mean. Just say that something is something else.

metaphores are easy unless you get them confused with similies.. there are key words that help you tell the difference. a meatphor would be like she IS a cow (is being the word that shows you it is a metaphor) compared to she is LIKE a cow(like being the word that shows you it is a similie)
