First of all you need to schedule sleep. Go to sleep at 10. Set your alarm for 7am, GET UP no matter how much you want to sleep. Find things to do, including getting a job.

You may be depressed due to not working at this time--that causes some people to sleep an awful lot. At 23, some people still do need a lot of sleep, anyway.

If you do intend to work, take classes or whatever, I would suggest that you start trying to turn your hours around. Next time you sleep till 3PM don't go to sleep at all that night. Keep yourself awake until at least 7PM the following night--then sleep. You should wake up by 8 or 9 in the morning.

If you find you get overtired and can't sleep after staying up all those hours--try Melatonin (often used for jetlag), it should knock you out. Lavender in the room is relaxing, and chamomile tea helps. You can try Sleepytime Extra Tea with Valerian, or Valerian supplements. READ DIRECTIONS ON OTC MEDS VERY CAREFULLY

That's not healthy. It could be a symptom of depression. I would definitely say go to sleep by a reasonable hour. Make yourself wake up by 11 or so. You should only be getting about 8 or 9 hours of sleep per night. Any more than that and you'll wake up feeling like you do. Like you got less sleep than you should, instead of more. It's not healthy to sleep that much. Every once in awhile it's OK, but you can't get that much sleep and lead a normal life and feel good. Set an alarm clock.

I think they need 8 1/2-9 hours, but if they do then I don't think I sleep enough. Ah, I'm a light sleeper anyway.

I do that, too Rod. I sleep 12 hrs at night and a 2 or 3 hr nap in the day. I can only tell you what I have. I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and major depression. It's hard to find a Dr. who will listen to you and get it right. Most of us see several dr.'s before we get a diagnosis. I had a sleep study that shows I don't have one of the deep stages of sleep. Best wishes.

Sounds like you might be a bit depressed to me. Try going to bed an hour earlier and setting an alarm to rise an hour earlier. Do this and gradually reduce your sleep to 8 or 9 hours. Remember a body at rest stays at rest. Also, if you are depressed...seek support.

You are bored and depression is a close 2nd,Man was made to
provide for his house.God said what ever your hands find to do
put your Heart in it,Man is made to earn living by sweat of brow.
Your body was made to move,if you don"t have to work, maybe someone else is carrying your load,Volunter, someone around
you needs you,God has a purpose for you.
I know of people that didn"t work-exersize ,now they have all these"syndrome" and pills and talk about their problems, which
makes them worse,You do have a choice in this matter.
You can"t be healthy and sleep 14 hours a day.

Life is good at 23. These are the vampire years. Have a good time now. And no regrets later.
"Those were the days my friend,
we thought they'd never end,
we'd sing and dance forever and a day.
We lived the life we choose,
we thought we'd never lose,
Those were the days,
oh yes, those were the days."
