I did the presentation to my dad about hamsters to show him I could be responsible...he said no.....I wrote a 500 word essay on why Im responsible enough to get a hamster...he STILL SED NO!! That was my last resort!!! Plz help me!!!!

Oh, I fell for the same thing, now I'm feeding 2 cats, buying the litter and food, feeding them, giving them their water, paying for the shots and neuter... it's not cheap. I really didn't need the extra work, but it's up to me to do it now. Writing an essay, no matter how many words, is easier than cleaning cages, paying for the bedding and food, cleaning the water tube and all that comes with it. Show responsibility by keeping your room clean and offering to help out around the house. Instead of writing, you should be doing things to help out. Some parents just don't want animals in their homes and your parents may fall into that category. How are you doing in school? I believe every kid that wants a pet should have one, IF they are responsible and keep up their end of the bargain.

Wow, you did alot of work and research! Good job! Did he say why he would not allow a hamster? Is it just because he doesn't like them or is it because he feels you won't take care of it after awhile? He needs to tell you why he feels this way in order for us to help you. Maybe you could make up a contract that states you will give the hamster away if he feels you are not taking care of it. If you make a contract, you will have to find someone now who's willing to take it if you need to give it up though. Would you or him consider a different type of animal? Is there another animal that you both can agree on? Just remember, it's up to you to take care of it for as long as it lives! Good luck with Dad, I'm very impressed by the work you put into your presentation.

Your dad probaly said no becuase he has a feeling you will burn out on the hamster. He probaly thinks that once the thrill of having one is over he will either end up taking care of it or you will complain about it.
And to tell you the truth.. speaking from expeirience, the idea of having a hamster is better then actually having one.

Be responsible with what you have for now. So do your chores and other things without him having to tell you. In a month or so, ask again. Tell him that hamsters are low maintenance and if he still says no, raise the money for one yourself and ask again, saying that you'll buy everything for it yourself.

buy one with your own money for your class then you will be able to leave it there and then take it home over the summer or let the teacher hold on to it until your pops gives the okay. by doing it this way your teacher can be a reference for your care-taking skills. a friend of mine did this in high school and everything worked fine for her, except our bio teachers dog ate the hamster, but she got another one ut of it from the teacher, so there was practically zero loss
