Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are most common in young to middle-aged sexually active women. Things that increase a woman's risk of getting UTIs include:

Sexual activity, which pushes bacteria into the urethra. Sexual activity with the use of a diaphragm and spermicide raises the risk.
Pregnancy. Pregnant women are at risk of developing asymptomatic bacteriuria, which in turn increases the risk of infections that cause symptoms. It also increases the risk of preterm labor.
Previous UTIs.
Use of feminine hygiene products that contain deodorant.
Lack of estrogen, which allows bacteria that can cause UTIs to grow more easily in the vagina or urethra. Women who have gone through menopause and are not taking estrogen are at increased risk for UTIs.

Your risk of developing a vaginal yeast infection can be increased by a number of medical and lifestyle factors.

Risk factors you can control include:

Unnecessary use of antibiotics.
Poorly controlled diabetes.
Wearing tight-fitting, nonabsorbent pants or undergarments that hold in warmth and moisture.
Using feminine hygiene sprays, talcs, or perfumes in the vaginal area.
Douching.
Using an intrauterine device (IUD).
Risk factors you cannot control include:

Impaired immune system. Conditions that affect the body's ability to maintain a normal balance in the organisms present in the vagina may increase the risk of a yeast infection.
Pregnancy. During pregnancy hormone levels in the body change, which can alter the balance of organisms in the vagina.
Undiagnosed diabetes. A change in blood sugar levels can affect the normal balance of organisms in the vagina and cause the excess growth of yeast cells.
Vaginal yeast infections are not sexually transmitted. However, if you have risk factors for a sexually transmitted disease, you may have an increased risk of an imbalance in the organisms of the vagina, which could lead to a vaginal yeast infection.

Your vagina has naturally occuring bacteria and yeast. When the bacteria gets too low, this makes the yeast get high and you get a yeast infection. If the yeast gets too low, the bacteria gets high and this causes a bacterial infection.

A UTI is caused by bacteria (usually from the anus) getting pushed into the vaginal area, traveling into the urethra.

Cranberry is a natural antibiotic so cranberry can help a mild UTI.

Sugary or yeasty foods can make a yeast infection worse, but not CAUSE it.

Yogurt w/ live bacteria in it can help keep your bacteria high and yeast low, but probably not CURE a yeast infection, however you can get acidophilis capsules and that will help a lot.

For UTIs, just good hygeine, wipe front to back, shower after sex, etc.

HTH :)

taking baths is most common for utis and yeast infections, and try drinking more water, sodas can definately contribute to uti's, and as for yeast infections, have you taken any anti-biotics for a cold or anything of the sort, a lot of women actually get yeast infections while taking anti-biotics, and also when you use the restroom wipe front to back, if you wipe back to front bacteria from your stool(in lamens terms, your poop) can enter into your vaginal canal and cause uti/YI, thats probably the 2nd most common reason, ok im going to get a little graphic but it will help, there is a small hole right inside your vaginal canal where your urine exits your body, and when bacteria gets in there(most commonly it gets in there from wiping back to front after using the restroom) it often results in uti's as for yeast infections try eating yogurt with active cultures in it a couple of time a week, read the label and it will tell you on the yogurt container if it has active cultures in it(i think) for some reason yogurt helps ward off yeast infections or reduces the amount of them you get, hope that helps, good luck and god bless

UTIs can be caused from holding your urine too long, not drinking enough liquids, bacteria from improper wiping (should be done front to back), bacteria build up during periods and sometimes you can get them from lounging in a bubble bath. Yeast infections can happen while taking antibiotics, bacteria build up while having your period, improper wiping, some women get them from wearing synthetic underwear, hormonal changes and prolonged exposure to the heat and sweating in that area. Sometimes on rare occ, when all the conditions are just right, eating too many sweets can be just enough to tip the balance to get a yeast infection.

no but eating yogurt prevents yeast infections

wearing spandex or boy shorts underwear is bad for those. you actually want to get as much air around you vagina as possible, small cotton undies or no undies at all is better. also try to pee immediately after sex
