If he's nursing, it's very likely he's got thrush. It looks like white spots and like his tongue is coated. I'd take him to the doctor for the first case and you'll get nystatin for a prescription. You cannot get this kind over the counter. The mother also should use nystatin on her nipples so the thrush will not transfer again. The doctor or pharmacist can give you usage directions. It's tough for a baby with thrush, so you really have to be patient. You may also want to try giving the baby pumped milk from a bottle if he'll take it, while the mother and child clear the thrush. You should get a prescrip. for more than you'll need, so you can treat it again if it comes back. Best of luck to you.

My son had the same thing when he was 12 weeks old and I couldn't breastfeed because of this. It turned out he had thrush, and was prescribed an oral "anti-fungal". After about 2 weeks, he was fine, but you have to make sure to sterilize everything otherwise it will just keep coming back. anything that touches his mouth needs to be cleaned constantly. If it isn't taken care of soon, it does hurt the infant, and cause them to not want to eat. Best of luck!

I think it is rather unusual for an such a young infant to have mouth sores. You should ask your doctor about this while they are still visible. I hate to make the suggestion but is it possible that the baby was exposed to herpes?

Call his doctor ASAP. Take him to the ER. IF he is not eating he can become malnourished and dehydrated. Get off the computer and take him NOW! It does not sound like Thrush. My son had this when he was in Children's Hospital and his mouth and tounge was coated white. Sores are completely different.

Go to the Dr. they will give him medicine usually it is Nystain. Your infant has Thrush which is a form of yeast. Be careful if you are breastfeeding b/c it could pass to your breast which would make them very painful.
