My picks: First, Texas. Second (by a longshot, but I still love it,) Alabama.

Texas: some of the friendliest people anywhere; huge, thriving cities (D/FW, Austin, San Antonio, Houston,) great job market, eclecticism in Austin, history in San Antonio and Ft. Worth, beaches, mountains, prairies, deserts, corn nuggets, Houston Astros, a great state! And the women...wow!

Alabama: Birmingham, away from the crime areas, is a neat city with unique shops and nice attractions. North Alabama has a decent economy, and the Gulf Coast is a wonderful vacation area. Plus, the best shrimp comes from the Alabama coast! Nice natives, too.

Kentucky, while beautiful, is no hotbed of economic growth and progessive thinking. The politicians have helped to prohibit growth and development. People are, by and large, guarded and frankly hateful (especially Louisville); small towns are very sheltered and closed off to "the outside." I'm a native who has NEVER felt comfortable or at home there.

I live in Okolona (the south end of Louisville) Kentucky, it has changed alot since you last saw it. Now there is to much growth, art and to many people. I have never been to Texas. When on vacation, the peopel down south were very nice, almost to a point that I was shocked by it. So, I would have to say, Alabama.

I like all 3..(I used to drive a truck)

Texas...I still consider this state my "adopted home state"

Alabama: Nice state to drive an 18 wheeler thru..very seldom did I get harassed by the D.O.T. there..(And the country group "Alabama" was the best!!)

Kentucky...The place I will always call home!! (If you have found a lot of hateful people near/around Louisville....You need to come to Paducah.....Western Kentucky, Southern IL, and SE Mo have the nicest people in the world!!

Alabama, I've never been to, so I can't say. Texas I hated with a purple passion, not Texas's fault so much, but a bad match. Kentucky is my home, and I feel the same way you do, but I don't have any plans to go anywhere else in the very near future.

i'm from a small town in ky. and the reason they don't want any development here is because it would take away from the beauty. a lot of people don't want anything new here. i would at least like to have a good craft store (wal-mart doesn't cut it especially since they "improved". what's that all about anyway? they took out the good stuff and nobody is happy with it any more. anyway, i agree that texas is a lot better.

I answered this same question I think last week. But I'll answer again. I would say Texas because I have been living in Texas for about 10 years now. I love it.

I live in Mckee Kentucky, I think you have just met the wrong snotty people. You need to go to the mountains where the good ole country boys live. In the summer that is. Its colder than hell here right now.
