when did you start table foods with your child? what did you start with? when did you stop giving stage 2 baby food? stage 3 baby food?

We went from stage 2 foods straight through to purely table foods. My youngest did not enjoy how thick the stage 3 foods were and loved to eat whatever it was that we were eating. I think that for starters we gave her cheerios, gerber fruit puffs, and then just smaller portions of what her sisters were eating. We probably started table foods around 11/12 months and by 14/15 months she was eating everything!

I definitely agree about giving your child a spoon to hold onto. My daughter was using a fork pretty consistently by 15 months and at about 20 months she was pretty good with a spoon (if it was yogurt, applesauce, etc. otherwise we're still working on that)

Good Luck it's such a fun time to introduce them to new foods :-)

My son has always been a big eater. He knows when to stop but he eats a lot. Right now he's almost a year and on table food. He started that when he was about ten months. Every now and then he'll eat a stage three food but not often. I'd say he was off of stage two by seven months. I hope this helps! Best of Luck!

I started giving my son baby cereal when he was about 8 months old. I solely nursed through 7 months. My best advice is to try it and see if the baby sticks his tongue out to push the food out. If he does, he's probably not ready and you could try again in a day or two. I started slowly with cereal and then baby oatmeal. After he was done with the grains (about a month) I gave him baby cereal mixed with some applesauce. That went another week or so then I started with some veggies and other fruits. (He LOVED carrots, peaches, sweet potatoes. He's got a thing with orange food.) I never really went to "stage 2" or "stage 3" foods because I made my own -- which is really easy and fun. I just started making them a little more thick and chunky as we went along. He was on full table food by about16 months. Another little bit of advice is to give the baby a spoon while you feed him so he gets used to using utensils, and it keeps him occupied to keep things a little neater. My son is fully using utensils (fork and spoon) and he's nearly 20 months. Good luck and have fun!

Well i ddint' go by doc. I went by my kids and how hungary they were. they started with soft egg, then cereal (baby) with baby fruit, they were several weeks old when they will full and sleepy they would sleep all nite. few mos i started with strained baby foods and stuff like that or you can use table food mashed potatles and mashed green beans peas etc. but its harder doing the real food. its up to you. but my kids ate early and are fine young men today

we atarted table food after stage three. for a while i bought those toddler dinners< i think gerber makes them> bt it got too expensive. we started her off with mac and cheese, spagetti, smashed sweet potatoes, things that were "table food" but were still soft for the transition. i think at your next pediatrician appt. you should talk to them about table food as well. Good luck!!
