We have a bridge called cry baby bridge. Supposedly years ago a woman threw her baby off the side of the bridge and if you park your car on it and roll down your window you can hear the baby cry. Once a friend of mine found tiny baby handprints on her car after leaving the bridge SWEAR TO GOD

There's lots of 'em cause it's an old mill town and most of the mills have been torn down. There are big blast furnace towers still standing in one area. The story goes that during the second world war there were more woman working there as the men were at war and one lady worked in the office. She came out one day by the stacks where a crane was operating and it hit her and knocked her head off and killed her - from then on until the mills closed there in the early 90s the mill workers all swear they saw her headless body walking that section of the mill - big strong mill workers would have the s h i t scared outta of them. The area is now a shopping area and they recently built a restaurant near there - but the stacks still stand nearby - and the folks coming out of the restaurant at night and some that work there too have seen this headless soul walkin' around even today.

Statesville - Bostian Bridge - On Aug. 27, 1891 a passenger train going from Salisbury to Asheville derailed and fell down almost 90 feet off of Bostian Bridge. The wreck killed 30 people and injured many more. If you go to the bridge on the anniversary of the wreck at about 3 a.m., you can hear the whole thing, from the crunching metal to the moans of the dying and injured, happen all over again. Sometimes, a conductor holding a gold pocket watch can be seen for only a few moments before vanishing. On the 50th anniversary, a woman reported seeing the scene replayed in front of her in the form of ghostly images.

Oh yes!
When I moved here 10 years ago one of my new neighbors told me a story about the lady who lived kitty corner from me. The story was that she was home alone one afternoon, someone broke into her home, bound her wrists and ankles with duct tape, stole some items from her home and then stole the jewelry off her fingers and neck!! This is a very small community and a very white and religious (no offense) neighborhood. The woman who was robbed was not religious and - oh my gosh - she and her husband drank alcohol! I got to know this woman, partly because I'm not religious and I drink alcohol. As it turns out this story is not an urban legend........ it is totally true!!

Yes. The ghost of a murdered cop still patrols city hall. I get goose bumps when I go in there. Weird vibes.
