Try to relax...
The average couple trying to achieve pregnancy only has about a 20% chance of success on each cycle, even armed with the tools to identify the actual day of ovulation. Being under a great deal of stress is a common cause of delayed periods b/c it can delay ovulation.

The odds that you are pregnant are really pretty slim. There are only about 8 days of any given cycle that a woman is fertile (a man‘s sperm can live in the woman‘s body for 5 days waiting for that tiny window when the ovaries may release an egg). Contrary to popular belief, the day of ovulation is typically 12-18 days before the start of a period... NOT 14 days after the start of her period.

There is no way to know for sure till roughly 10 days after the incident (about when implantation should occur) because, HCG begins to be produced by the developing placenta and gets into the blood stream. Only then can HCG be detected by a HPT = taking a pregnancy test too early is a complete waste of money.

Similarly, the morning after pill is not always the best first course to take when you have a "compromised contraceptive" situation; forgotten pills, condom errors, momentary lapse, etc. All medications have risks and should be carefully discussed with a Dr and monitored.

In the future you might try finding the cause of the contraceptive failure and work towards preventing a repeat performance.
;) Common causes of condom failure include:
>the lack of proper lubrication = increase the foreplay, use lubricant, etc
>deterioration of the condom = can be caused by improper storage (heat, cold, etc) or use of an oil based lubricant or the condom simply being too old
>inexperience with condoms = not putting it on far enough, using the "magnum" sizes (the average penis is 5-7 inches when fully erect)
>snags = using long manicured nails or teeth to open or apply the contraceptive
>flacidity = don't let the penis lose an erection before pulling out, or the condom may slip off and spill

Despite what people will have you think, it's rather difficult to become pregnant. There is a small period of time when a woman is very fertile, and couples who try to have babies usually have to try a few times.

However, there is still a chance that you may become pregnant. You need to take precautions.

Go to your gynecologist as soon as possible and tell her what has happened and that you'd like Emergency Contraception. If you do not have a gynecologist, or you don't feel safe going there, look up your local Planned Parenthood or Family Planning Center.

Emergency Contraceptive, or Plan B, is very effective. 89% up to 72 hours (three days) of the last encounter of unprotected sex, and the effectiveness decreases after the 72 hour mark.

Also, even though you are using condoms, you might want to think about getting on some sort of birth control.

If you are still worried, your gynecologist, Planned Parenthood, or Family Planning Center should have pregnancy tests you can take which are very accurate and pretty quick.

Also, Planned Parenthood and Family Planning Centers are very private and affordable/free.

Absolutely you could be pregnant. A man does not even need to ejaculate inside of a woman to get her pregnant. Because of a gland called the Cowper's gland (aka the bulbourethral gland) which secretes a fluid as soon as the man has an erection. This secretion will also contain residual sperm. Since you know sperm was introduced in to your reproductive tract, the big question is where were you in your menstrual cycle? Was it anywhere from roughly 9-17 days AFTER the first day of your last period? If so, you may have been within the time you were fertile and could, quite possibly, be pregnant. Take a test if you are concerned.

Yes you could be Pregnant. Thats exactly how my brother got into this world--a broken condom.

Sorry that happened--bummer. You could always get a Pregnancy Test from the drug store. Or go to Planned Parenthood in your area.

It's possible that you could be pregnant, but it all depends on whether you are already on some sort of birth control. But I would definitely take the Emergency Contraceptive Pill if I were you, just to be safe. And then take a pregancy test just to make sure.
