is New York City where the American was born?

For many people it is, due to the people from so many different cultures working and living together. It is a symbol of the American melting pot, the heart of trade and commerce with the stock market, and the primary center of the arts with the major dance companies, art museums, & music of all styles located there in one city.

For others the American Dream is more aptly symbolised by acres and acres of farmland dotted with barns and silos. The raging rivers and snowy mountains, the prairie grasslands of the Midwest, or the sand and surf of California are the American Dream of others.

There are as many areas associated with the American Dream as there are Americans or those who dream of someday becoming Americans. However, most would say that New York City has an undeniably strong relation to the American Dream.

I think what you might be thinking of is Ellis Island where so many immigrants that came to America were first processed into this country. Do a web search for it and you can get some more helpful information.
