It's up to you.....the doctor has seen it all.

What are you talking about? Do you think it's the 70s? Almost all women do the same, in fact most have a silly waxed 'landing strip' and some even have no hair at all. A lot of people who don't shave or wax routinely do it for going to the exams as pubic hair is seen as embarrassing and untidy. and no, he won't get lost, he's swabbing INSIDE your vagina. If he can't find the big gaping hole then he needs glasses and certainly shouldn't be a gyn. Your entire vagina, let alone it's hair, is nothing to do with your parents and he won't (isnt allowed by law either) mention anything to them. Sorry but you must lead a very sheltered life. Also you are so out of date to what's 'in', what people think, and basic laws such as privacy laws. If you learned some things life would be easier and you would have about 80% less stress. There is nothing to be worried about. You could have a tattoo of Elvis on your pubic area and he wouldn't comment on it. It's not his place to give opinions, specifically on your appearance.

Sure, if you regularly shave. But don't shave for the pap test. Unless you want to. Doctors aren't going to judge you on that...

No I wouldnt shave, but you can always mabe trim. Shaving makes you irritated and itches when the hair grows back. I've had doctors tell me its not good to shave that area either. The hair is there to protect and keep from having infections, dont ask me how but thats what I've been told.

I was wondering this too! I nornally shave and I told my husband that I was going to make an appointment and he said well you better wait until your hair grows back. I hadn't even thought about it until he said that. I havent gone yet but I have decided I am just going to leave it shaved the Dr. has seen all kinds it really doesnt matter.

hairless is easier to work with but if you've never shaved before I wouldn't suggest doing it right before a pap test.. just trim it down a little

I have my pap tested before.... there is nothing to do whether you shave or not.

It doesn't really matter, I would say don't shave b/c it can cause unsightly razor bumps as well as ingrown hairs! If you feel that you need to be 'neatly trimmed' down there, then I would suggest getting a bikini wax two - three days before hand... it can really help! :)

No need. The doctor is going to scrape some cells off your cervix and will use several tools to open the vaginal area to do this. Just be sure that you don't have your period then. It will mess up the results.
