My bf loves the show and says it's geared more towards adults than kids. Yes, he is a stoner. I think it's funny but definitely a kid's show, what do you think?

Not a thing wrong with liking Sponge Bob. I'm 35 and I LOVE Family Guy and South Park and I've watched Sponge Bob a lot also. Life is hard, so I say laugh whenever you can!

Cartoons like SpongeBob are clever. They appeal to the masses. Kids love anything that's a cartoon, but the jokes in the show, while they are fairly innocent, can have dirty little undertones in them that only adults pick up on.
The old Looney Tunes cartoons are notorious for that. Spongebob, in a way, is the same.

My brother watches it with his kids or not and loves it. He is not a stoner and is 36 years old. He even got a pair of sponge bob boxers for Christmas and had to put them on over his jean to model them for all of us. Yes we got blackmail pictures but that doesn't seem to bother him in the least.

I know a couple of stoners, who says the same thing, but as an uncle. I wouldn't seat around and watch it, but there are definitely jokes that are meant for adults.

Spongebob is hilarious. And yea, I think the writers try to encourage adults to watch with their kids. Its kinda funny to laugh at an adult joke and your kid is innocently laughing at something else and your both laughing and drooling like idiots. Its a good show.

Well, in my own perspective as a viewer of this show (I'm 15, you know.), it's just normal that any age bracket can LOVE (not just "like") SpongeBob SquarePants. It's really funny and plays a really "childish", plus "mature", content. It would not be unfair that "30 year-old" won't be susceptible to "kids' shows". Well, that's a normal reaction... "you're gonna be young again", as I would say...

Kind of like the Simpson's.... a cartoon for everyone. Enough adult content to let adults enjoy it but child like enough to allow the kids to love it too.
Let the man watch his cartoon --- if that's the weirdest thing he does you're in luck
