Those contractions are your muscles "exercising" for the big day. It will happen often. But be aware. I thought that I was having braxton hicks and I was really in labor.

Braxton Hicks contractions happen periodically for most women, constantly for others, never for others. You tend to get them more the more pregnancies you have or the more dehydrated you are or if you have a bladder infection or if your uterus feels like it lol. In my first pregnancy I got them every few days from second trimester on. During my second pregnancy i had them constantly, so much so that when I went into a painless labor I didn't even know. My aunt forced me to go to doc and I had the baby two hours later(lucky on that one). During my third pregnancy they were so bad during the last two weeks(painful and constant, although they generally are not painful) I swore I was in labor every day and I begged my doctor to induce me. During my fourth pregnancy I had them like once a month and they never bothered me. Now, during this fifth preg, I've been getting them since I hit the second trimester. I'm hoping it doesn't mean more false labor(what my doc was kind enough to term the last two weeks of suffering in that pregnancy) like the third pregnancy, but we'll see. Good Luck

They are actually to different htings braxton hicks are like "preactice" contractions that you can get from around 6 months on and they are harmless, false contactions are more intense that happen in the third trimester mostly and they are more like real contraction but will go away.

Braxton Hicks, and they can happen periodically, mostly in the third trimester. They can be so soft you barely notice them, to feeling identical to labor pains. They tend to happen more often during the last couple of weeks.

It can happen more than periodically. In my third trimester, it happened daily. It used to freak me out because I have a history of pre-term labor, but the contractions are VERY different from real contractions. I used to have them only in the top left of my abdomen only.............

Braxton-Hicks.

Some people never feel them.
Others feel them all the time for months.

Most people will feel at least some Braxton-Hicks contractions during their last few months of pregnancy.

it happens alot! Up until you get the real contractions. Sometimes the Braxton Hicks are mistaken for real ones too!

They are called Braxton-Hicks. They happen periodically. Sometimes they can be sparked by stress, being over-tired or over-active. My girlfriend is in her eighth month with her 4th child and she's been having them for about a month now, mostly when she's really tired.

It can happen often, as long as you know the difference between braxton hicks and the real thing, you'll be fine, its perfectly normal.
