I have 9 smoke detectors and all of them went out at once. They are hardwired in, not connected to the same circuitbreaker, they are not carbon monoxide alarms, and there is no fire. My brother is a firefighter and he is baffled. My grandfather is an electrician, I called him, and he doesnt know anything. HELP!!!

Thank you all for your help. I called the fire department and they came out. All but one fire alarm was going off which was out of batteries. For some reason, that triggered all of them to go off. It was very interesting. Once again, thank you all very much for your help.

if you have an electrician in the family, get them to check it out!

remove some of them, you don't need them all!

Ensure none directly in kitchens / laundry / bathrooms and ensure they are away from outdoor areas

Smok detectors additionally react to fumes-no smoke and no flame(hearth) and that i discovered that out as quickly as I used my self sparkling oven for the 1st time-had to open the living house windows -i might desire to scent the fumes from the oven yet observed no smoke. possibly there's the same difficulty on your place -there's a reason that needs to be found-open your living house windows, doorways and consider your finished living house additionally for any no longer conventional Smells or examine the exterior to be sure some thing no longer burning exterior . If once you have ventilated your place and nevertheless the smoke alarms do no longer close off and there has been no ruin interior the electrical powered energy-if under pressure out alarms, then without calling 911-call the familiar firestation no nearest to you or the familiar police no -clarify your difficulty and that they could be those maximum knowledgeable on advising you .

Some hardwired smoke detectors are linked to each other, this is dependent on how the home was wired, when one goes off they all go off and a low battery can cause this.

There are lots of household items that can set off smoke detectors. saw dust, hair spray even steam from a shower and. Since they are hardwired, they will all go off if one is triggered. If you have them in your basement, my guess would be that there may be bugs living in them or massive dust accumulation. There could be a piece of something in one of them that is triggering the test mode. My advice your be unplug one and hop skotch it around. changing one every day. hopefully that will help you find the bad one.

WOW....what kinda house do you live in dude...some haunted mansion?! lol jk

Maybe there was some sort of electrical signal, invisible wave, or a tiny hint of smoke that set it off. Maybe your alarms are very sensitive. But WOW...that's pretty crazy man.

Was there a power surge in the area? Or, is there a battery backup system?

call the manufacturing company if you still have thier number.... or maybe go to the store you bought them at and ask them.

haha im kinda starting to think that there is something spooky going around your house.... maybe you have some ghosts in your house....-> may sound weird and unrealistic but possible

otherwise ... if there are no batteries then check the wiring..... ... i dunno dude
