I am looking for craft ideas that can be enclosed in care packages to soldiers and made by 3-4 year olds. I was trying to think of something useful for the soldiers while they are out in Iraq.

Make little thumbody cards. Small enough to fit in a wallet.
Have the child make 2 thumbprints. Make one look like a soldier and the other whatever. Then write on the card:
This thumbody wants to thank you for making the world a better place.
I just thought that up from the top of my head. But I do that sometimes. Maybe you could have them laminated too. Then the guys can put them in their wallets. You may want to print the childs first name by the picture of his print. Also make sure you put a date on it. This is more important then you think.
Good luck. It's nice to see somebody, or thumbody, cares about those guys. Oh. and maybe you could make the background of the cards a very faint pic of the american flag. That would be really cool. Or a big star in the upper left corner of the card and red and white stripes next to it. good luck.

www.orientaltrading.com has very inexpensive kits that children can assemble. They come complete, except for the glue. Some that I think would be appropriate, would be picture frames.
